"Peacekeeper"

Hand-carved from a 1.9 lb piece of cottonwood bark, Peacekeeper embodies the traditional Green Man wood spirit highlighted with calm, hand-painted eyes. Tucked into the base is a small, sleeping chickadee. Though small, chickadees are incredibly hearty winter birds—tough enough to face harsh elements, yet completely peaceful. This sculpture pairs the protective presence of the wood spirit with the quiet resilience of the bird, finding a balance between strength and a steady, calm demeanor.

This piece was awarded the 1st Place Blue Ribbon for woodcarving in the Professional Fine Arts Competition at the Indiana State Fair.
